Superintendent makes school personnel decisions, not the school board

In the May 1 issue of the Monticello News, a press release from the Jefferson County Schools district office incorrectly stated that the “Jefferson County School Board has made the decision not to renew the contract of Jackie Pons,” who is currently principal at Jefferson County K-12 School. After the press release was published, a corrected statement was issued by the district office, which states in part, “Contract renewal will not be offered to Jefferson Schools K-12 Principal Jackie Pons, based on the decision of Superintendent Eydie Tricquet.” The updated statement continues with much of the same language as the original statement, indicatin
