A Doctor's Heart is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that funds medical mission trips to South America. Since 2007, doctors participating in A Doctor’s Heart (ADH) have served the populations along the tributaries of the Amazon River both medically and spiritually.
Each year, the organization sends a team to Brazil. The team consists of physicians, nurses and a pharmacist who provide much needed healthcare to residents of the villages, while many young people on the team conduct an awesome vacation Bible school program for the kids in the Amazon villages. When needed, a second construction team visits a village to build a home, church or community center. This year's medical team traveled to Brazil March 8-18, 2024.
Since its inception, ADH has treated more than 11,300 patients, donated nearly $2 million in medication, conducted more than 8,000 eye exams, provided more than 6,000 pairs of glasses, built five missionary homes, two churches, two community centers, and refurbished two missionary homes. In addition, donations to ADH have provided 38 freshwater wells and 13 missionary boats with motors.
The community is invited to add their support to this effort through the “Boots & Burlap” event on Saturday, June 22, from 5 to 8 p.m. For a $40 ticket, there's a fun evening of good food while raising funds to support A Doctor's Heart's medical mission trips. The menu includes pulled pork sliders, green beans, baked potato bar, ice cream dessert bar and Brazilian drinks.
The event venue is the First Methodist Church Family Ministry Center, located at 325 W. Walnut St.) in Monticello. Please RSVP by June 14 by calling (850) 545-3730 or (850) 997-8900.
