Suspect charged with killing Monticello man

Laura Young ECB Publishing, Inc. Roberto Luis Rodrigues, age 34, was arrested on Friday, April 11, 2025, in connection with the 2024 death of Lance Nealy, Sr. in Monticello, Fla.  The investigation began on April 13, 2024, when the Monticello Police Department (MPD) responded to reports of an unresponsive man lying in a yard near Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. in Monticello. The MPD called Jefferson County Fire Rescue, whose personnel pronounced the man deceased at the scene. Further investigation included assistance with gathering evidence at the scene from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO), Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
