What a week! Seamless, friendly, deadly, coordinated and protective. All this describes our law enforcement and municipal agencies we are blessed to have in Jefferson County.
I'm sure that local agencies were thinking about traffic control, heat exhaustion, personnel, placement and the like in the days leading up to the festival. I guess too that no municipal workers got a day off, making sure that the streets were clean, the garbage collected, the signs placed and plans all ready.
So what a marvelous time for dangerous shooters to invade our quiet town. Sirens, warnings, hunts, drones tracking dogs, oh my! Our brave law enforcement agencies were surely whipped after that frightening event. No rest for the weary though, and festival plans carried on after the scoundrels were caught.
I halfway expected to see scowling faces, abrupt responses and raccoon-eyed workers at the festival. Instead, I saw smiling faces, efficient work and obvious planning at the festival events.
This did not go unrecognized. It should not go unheralded either. So thank you all you men women, officers, dispatchers, street departments, and city and county workers. You make Jefferson County a magic and safe place to live.
