The First Bank, the new face of the former FMB Bank of Monticello, recently hosted the June Business After 5 gathering of Jefferson County professionals.
Organized by the Monticello-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, the Business After 5 socials provide an opportunity for Jefferson County's business owners, community partners and chamber members to gather together for socializing and mingling “after 5 p.m.”
These professional and recreational gatherings are designed with the mindset that “people do business with people they know.”
Business After 5 events are free and open to the public, especially to chamber members.
On Thursday, June 27, the staff at The First Bank welcomed various chamber members into their business, which is located at 1200 E. Washington St.
Business After 5 attendees enjoyed drinks and food from local restaurants, including Johnston's Meat Market, Rancho Grande and the Lazy Lizard Pizza Company, while mingling in the bank's lobby with other local professionals.
Michele Arceneaux, president of the Monticello-Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, provided a brief welcome to the social's attendees before The First Bank's Tallahassee and Monticello Marketing President, Don May, thanked the gathered business professionals of Monticello for their attendance.
In 2018, The First Bank merged with Monticello's FMB Bank, which had served the community of Jefferson County since 1906.
May spoke regarding the merger, saying that the newly merged companies have finally gotten through the joining of their two companies and were looking forward to the many years ahead.
“The Monticello branch is very important to the company,” said May. “Monticello absolutely matters to The First Bank, and we look forward to many more years here, serving Jefferson County.”
