Election Day will be held Tuesday, August 23, and Early Voting held from Monday, August 8 through Saturday, August 20. Traditionally there is very little turnout for primaries compared to the General Election in November. I would like to encourage all voters to turn out for the Primary Elections this year as the Jefferson County School Board members are typically decided during the Primary, not the General Election.
There are several school board members who are up for election this cycle who have challengers running against them. This is a time for voters in Jefferson County to take decisive action in support of Jefferson County Schools. If your school board member has been on the school board since 2009, they presided over the previous decline and deterioration of Jefferson County Schools. Why would you continue to vote for the same people and expect different results? Vote for the alternative candidate in August!
The only reason Jefferson County is in a position to take back control of the running of the schools is through the Herculean efforts of School Superintendent Eydie Tricquet. If it hadn’t been for her hard work, the County schools would still be in the hands of the State Department of Education.
Now is your chance to truly make a difference in the quality of education in Jefferson County. Show up on August 23rd and vote out School Board members who presided over the fall of Jefferson County schools. The time is right for a new beginning with new school board members!
