Monticello may be the seat and only town in Jefferson County, but it is certainly not the only place. Several unincorporated communities, such as Lloyd, Aucilla, Waukeenah and Wacissa dot the map. These places were often historically-important locations that played a role in the development of the area during Florida's territorial period. Only two of them ever incorporated into towns; they were Lloyd and Aucilla, which both decided to unincorporate just a few years later. Though our unincorporated communities seem humble today, they are the places that hundreds of Jefferson County residents call home.
