My son was a member of the 2011 Jefferson County Tigers Football State Championship team. This team was the 6th championship team in the history of Jefferson County football.
There was a huge sign at Memorial Stadium which paid tribute to the 6 teams. A couple or so years ago a storm destroyed the sign and since that time I have been given the run around and even been blatantly lied to about a replacement sign by school personnel, School Board members and Superintendent.
We are working on it or it will be done shortly or I will take care of it or there are no funds to pay for it.
Seems to me that 5 School Board members and a Superintendent could have come up with the funds and taken care of this matter long ago, since in reality they have not had a lot of responsibility while Somerset has been running the school system, yet they have continued to draw those nice salaries this whole time.
I would also be willing to bet that Jefferson County is the only school in this State that doesn’t has a permanent displayed banner or sign at their football stadium paying tribute to their state championship teams.
So, I would like to ask every player, coach, team personnel member and also all relatives and friends of these 6 State Championship teams of 1966, 1972, 1974, 1982, 1991 and 2011 to make sure and thank Superintendent Eydie Triaquet and School Board members Charles Boland, Bill Brumfield, Sandra Saunders, Gladys Roann Watson and Shirley Washington for showing their TRUE COLORS, and they aren’t Jefferson County TIGER ORANGE and BLUE.
