On May 20, GrannyKat's Apiary and Bee Learning Center hosted their second annual Plant Swap and Sale event. Much like last year, this event was complete with a “swap” section and a “sale” section, and this year, the variety of plants brought in for the swap was impressive! There were trays of zinnias, elephant ear plants ranging from small to large, ivy vines, bromeliads, lemon grass, mint cuttings, a fig tree, poinsettia bush and more. There were even several vegetable plants available for swap, including cantaloupe and green bell peppers. Anyone who had brought in a plant to swap was encouraged to take a plant or two from the swap table.
On the sale side, there were several ornamental plants, bushes and trees available for purchase, including lemon grass, ferns, Lady Banks climbing roses, fig plants, palm trees, and pothos hanging baskets.
Happy Jefferson County residents left the GrannyKat's lot laden with wonderful new additions to their gardens, and after loading the new greenery into their vehicles, many stopped into the GrannyKat's gift shop for some Saturday afternoon shopping!
