Jed Dillard Florida Farm Bureau – Jefferson County The week of Feb. 12-16 is Food Checkout Week. During this week, the average American has earned enough money to pay for the years' food; cost. Jefferson County Farm Bureaus joins the Florida Farm Bureau to celebrate American Florida agriculture's bountiful production of food and its benefits to the state. According to the most recent information, the USDA reports that food costs make up only 9.8 percent of Americans' annual spending. The farmers' share of the food dollar is less than a dime, 9.8 cents. Yes, food costs are up 2.7 percent from December 2022 to December 2023. What is the producer's share of that increase?
