Thomas Waring “Tommy” Drawdy, Jr., 76, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, in Tallahassee, Fla., surrounded by his two children and daughter-in-law.
Tommy, “TD”, was born in Madison, Fla., on May 14, 1946, to Thomas W. and Marjorie (McClellan) Drawdy and was the oldest of three sons. He graduated from Florida State University with an accounting degree and was a self-employed accountant. He ran his accounting practice, Thomas Drawdy, Jr. Accounting, until he retired at 52 years old, in 1998, in Monticello, Fla. He served as a city council member in Monticello, was a past chairman of the Aucilla River chapter of Ducks Unlimited, was a member of Quail Unlimited, the local Kiwanis Club, and the First United Methodist Church of Monticello, Fla.
He married Eugenia Elaine Harris in 1972 and had three children, Waring, Vance, and Brigit. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He passed on his love of the outdoors to his children through many deer, quail, dove, and duck hunting trips as well as having raised them on a fishing pond. He bled garnet and gold and cheered on the Seminoles every year while taking his family tailgating and to Seminole football games.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his oldest son, Thomas Waring Drawdy; brothers, Howard and Scott Drawdy; and his uncle, James McClellan. Tommy is survived by his two children, Vance Harris Drawdy (Amanda), of Monticello, and Brigit Drawdy Smallridge (Eric), of Tallahassee; three grandchildren, Madeline Elaine Houk, Talyn, and Aiden; nieces, Ashley Drawdy Woods, Roseanne Drawdy, and Sarah Drawdy; and nephews, Brad Drawdy, Zach Drawdy, and Scott Drawdy.
A visitation will be held at Beggs Funeral Home, 485 E. Dogwood St., Monticello, Fla., on Friday, Aug. 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held the following morning, Saturday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Monticello, Fla.
