Both the Tigers of Jefferson Somerset Academy and the Warriors of Aucilla Christian Academy have their eyes on a trip to Tallahassee next month for a chance at the coveted state championship in their respective classes. But before they get to the Capital City, both teams face a tough road ahead.
In the Class 1A tournament, the Taylor County High School Bulldogs will host the Tigers in the Region 2 quarter-final. The game is set to take place in Perry on Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7:00 p.m. The winner of that contest will go on to face the winner of the Bozeman vs. Wewahitchka game in the Region two semi-final game on Friday, Nov. 20. The Class 1A state championship game will be played at Gene Cox Stadium, in Tallahassee on Saturday, Dec. 12.
In the Class 2A tournament, the Aucilla Christian Academy Warriors will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. to face the Fighting Christians of University Christian School on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of the St. John Paul II Catholic School vs FAMU High game in Tallahassee in the Region One semi-final on Friday, Nov. 20. The Class 2A state championship game will be held at Gene Cox Stadium, in Tallahassee on Friday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. More information about the playoffs can be found at www.fhsaa.com.
