On Friday, Dec. 9, the Jefferson County K-12 Tigers varsity basketball team hosted a long-time rival, the Cowboys of Madison County High School. It was a relatively low-scoring game and, in the end, the Cowboys emerged on top in the contest. The Tigers managed to establish a 9-7 lead at the end of the first period. During the second quarter, the Cowboys took a 25-22 lead, going into halftime. During the third quarter, the Cowboys continued to increase their lead to hold a 37-30 advantage, going into the final quarter. During the final period, the Cowboys continued to open their lead until the final buzzer sounded, with the Cowboys holding a 47-34 lead.
The Tigers will return home on Thursday, Dec. 15, for a contest with Community Leadership Academy. Before the game, there will be a special ceremony celebrating Coach Kennedy's 500th career win. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Jefferson County K-12 gymnasium, located at 50 David Rd. in Monticello.
The Tigers will finish the week on Friday, Dec. 16, with a home contest against the War Eagles of Wakulla High School. Tipoff is slated to take place at 7 p.m., in the Jefferson County K-12 gymnasium.
