Tigers drop nail-biter

The Jefferson County Tigers held a lead until the final moments of their varsity football game against the Trojans of Hamilton County High School on Friday, Aug. 23, in Monticello. It was the opening game of the season for the Tigers.
The Tigers held an 8-6 lead at the end of the opening quarter before adding seven more points, taking a 15-6 lead into intermission. After a scoreless third quarter, the Trojans cut into the Tigers’ lead. Then, with a minute and a half remaining in the contest, the Trojans took advantage of a Tiger turnover and scored their go-ahead touchdown.
