The Jefferson County High School Tigers struggled to find the endzone on Friday, Sept. 9, when they traveled to Tallahassee to face the Eagles of North Florida Christian School. The Tigers were defeated 42-0 by the Eagles.
The Eagles went up early on a blocked kick that was returned for a touchdown. By the end of the first period, the Eagles had a 21-0 lead. The Eagles added two more touchdowns in the second quarter and the Eagles had a 35-0 advantage at intermission. The second half moved quickly with a continuously running clock. The Eagles put seven more points on the scoreboard during the third period. The Tigers were able to hold the Eagles scoreless during the final period, ending the game with a 42-0 Eagles win.
Despite having more offensive plays from scrimmage than the Eagles, the Tigers only managed 16 yards of offense on 41 plays. The Tigers had 39 passing yards. The Tigers were limited to negative yards on the ground with -23 yards rushing. The Tigers were also hampered by two turnovers.
Next, the Tigers (0-3) will host the Gators of Baker High School, on Friday, Sept. 16. The Gators (2-1) are coming off a 21-20 win over Bozeman High School. Kickoff for the contest is set for 7:30 p.m., at Tiger Stadium.
