Mr. Beger's rants in his letters would be more helpful if he quoted facts, if he denoted the source of his "information," and if he even made good sense. I am sorry, Mr. Beger, that you are so angry and hostile, but get your facts right and don't just repeat fraudulent tropes you hear.
Do the research.
In other words, write a letter that is worth reading.
To the Veterans: Mr. Trump continues to push a lie about rampant voter-fraud with mail-in ballots. And IT IS a lie. There is no evidence of rampant voter-fraud in our elections. The only one who is committing voter fraud is the President by spreading his lies. A wise man once told me, "Scientific certitude is no match for ideological absurdity." Trump is the face that proves that statement. The problem arises with his not-agreeing to a peaceful transition of power if he loses, or the claim that he will "negotiate" a third term if he feels like it. That is an unconstitutional and illegal stance for a President who claims to be the law and order candidate.
For veterans, you took an oath when you joined the service to "protect and defend" the U.S. Constitution. The President is figuratively threatening to tear up our Constitution, the foundation of our laws and the infrastructure to our order. That attitude by the President makes him the President of illegality and chaos in our democracy. If, Veterans, you vote for the President's reelection what does that mean about the oath you took years ago? I know you are proud of it and we are proud of you, but you need to think about that oath. I am sure there are those of you who will rationalize supporting the President's reelection bid, but then that means you place him above our Constitution. Think about it. You swore to protect our Constitution. Does that mean you will betray the oath you took years ago, or, do you just say, "times are different now," and ignore that oath. The Constitution has not changed. By discarding the Constitution, the President is saying our democracy does not matter. Do you support that? Is that what you swore years ago? You have to make that decision. Does the oath you took then matter, or will you betray your oath, the pledge of allegiance, or your patriotic actions of years ago? There is a man's name that should adhere to you if you vote against the Constitution. The President lies. If his mouth is moving, he is lying.
Those of you who believe him hear only what you listen for and see only what you look for. If you plan to quote Thomas Jefferson's 'tree of liberty' quote get it correct, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
Remember in which category you will fall if you vote antithetical to the oath you took and against our Constitution. Think about it.
Sincerely,
John Leland
