The popular Red Hills Small Farm Alliance’s Tomato “Feastival” is back! The 17th annual Feastival will be held on Sunday, June 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Goodwood Museum and Gardens in Tallahassee, Fla. Taste selections from nearby small farms and food producers, join an old fashioned “cake walk,” slake your thirst with choice offerings from local breweries – and much more.
It’s all about celebrating our vibrant farming community here in North Florida and the Red Hills region.
All proceeds go to benefit the nonprofit Red Hills Small Farm Alliance, a 501c3 organization that supports our local farms and producers so they can increase food access in our community. Jefferson County farming members include CB Family farm, Rocky Soil Family Farm, Golden Acres, Glendower Farms, Florida Georgia Citrus and The Good Ground Farm.
Planned activities include:
• Tomato Contests: Bring your entries for best tasting, ugliest and biggest tomatoes from your garden
• Farmers Market: Tomatoes (of course!) and other locally grown, seasonal fruits and veggies
• Live music by The Air Fried Turkeys
• Lawn games for kids and adults
• Raffle and Auction featuring local foods, art, products and services
• Old fashioned cake walk
Food and beverage opportunities include:
• Classic southern tomato sandwiches, made with farmer-grown tomatoes
• Sausage dogs by Glendower Farms
• Ice Cream by Lofty Pursuits
• Tomato Pie by KitchenAble
• Local craft beer from four nearby breweries
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and no charge for kids age 12 and under. Families can get a ticket package for $25. Advance purchases include a free raffle ticket; additional raffle tickets can be purchased for $5 each, and food can also be purchased separately.
