Traffic violators get reprieve during October

County residents who owe traffic tickets or who are on a plan to pay the amount owed over a period of time will get a reprieve this month as a result of Hurricane Helene.
Clerk of Court Jason Welty informed county officials of the grace period recently, first explaining how the process typically works.
“We have statutory guidelines that say that if you don't pay a ticket after 30 days, we give you an additional 20 days and then we send your information to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to have your license suspended,” Welty said.
