According to information provided by Tri-County Electric Cooperative (TCEC), which services Madison, Jefferson, Taylor and parts of Dixie counties, there are still damaged trees around that continue to pose a threat of power outages. Many trees are leaning as a result of strong winds associated with Hurricane Idalia. Any heavy rains could soften the ground
around these trees, which could result in more trees falling.
“Frequent scattered outages are likely over the next several weeks as damaged trees and hanging limbs may fall from the weight of typical afternoon showers or winds,” said Kaitlynn Culpepper, Community Relations Director and Member Services Representative for TCEC. “We will be ready to respond as needed.”
Although TCEC has completely restored power from the recent hurricane, there are very few customers who may still be without power as necessary repairs are made to homes and property which will allow those customers to safely accept electricity. TCEC is actively assisting these customers through this process, and crews are standing by to restore power as soon as those customers are ready.
Any TCEC customers still without power who have not been contacted by TCEC, should call TCEC at (850) 973-2285. TCEC has system control ready to assist 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Thank you all for your support, encouragement, assistance and resources through this time,” added Culpepper. “The communities we serve come together time and time again, and we are proud to provide quality, affordable and reliable electricity to Madison, Jefferson, Taylor and Dixie Counties.”
