Triple L (LLL), hosted by Monticello First Baptist Church, continues growing with new members and guests attending its monthly meetings.
This senior group gathers at 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Tuesday for a great time of fun and Christian fellowship. The meeting includes a program and lunch provided by the membership. The group also meets monthly at a local restaurant for lunch and a time to “catch up” with friends. In October, the group met at Rancho Grande restaurant in Thomasville, Ga. In September, the group came together for lunch and fellowship at Longhorn Steak House, also in Thomasville.
On October 26, the group of 28 met in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church for lunch and a program with guest speaker Jennifer King.
King promoted the Monticello Woman's Club, of which she is president. The club has been supporting the Jefferson County community since 1916, through fundraising and volunteer events. The Woman's Club membership meets monthly at noon, on the second Tuesday in the clubhouse, located at 975 E. Pearl St.
King is a lieutenant with the Tallahassee Fire Department, working 24-hour shifts on Engine 6.
“I love my job,” she shares, and is looking forward to “getting back to work,” after her recent motorcycle accident in North Georgia. “The best part of working in Tallahassee is coming home to Monticello,” she adds. She moved to Monticello from Tallahassee in 1999.
