The Big Bend region’s premier horse-rescue organization will hold its annual fundraiser and gala on Feb. 28, celebrating the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of more than 550 horses, donkeys and mules since its founding, event organizers have announced.
Triple R Horse Rescue, serving much of North Florida and South Georgia, will hold its 11th Annual “Have a Heart for Horses” Fundraiser – a celebration of community and all things horse – from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at The Homestead Barn, located at 519 Whitehouse Rd. in Monticello.
“This year’s event promises more excitement than ever before,” said Beth White, Triple R’s president.
Guests will be treated to:
• A jaw-dropping performance by The Creative Equestrian, Sandra Beaulieu and her talented horse Rovandio, who will be painting a masterpiece live.
• Gourmet dining by Eric Pelletier of EP Designs.
• Live music and dancing with Baby Gray.
• A fabulous silent auction, games and raffles with prizes.
Since its founding in 2009, Triple R Horse Rescue has rescued, rehomed and facilitated the adoption of more than 550 horses.
“Since there are no publicly funded shelters for equines in our region, Triple R and our sister rescues are the only solution when law enforcement or animal control must intervene in cases of abuse, neglect or abandonment,” White said. “We also are here for families who must surrender their horses because of age, illness or financial crisis.”
The organization relies on donations and its fundraising events to fund its operations. To maximize its efficiency, Triple R relies exclusively on volunteers and foster ranches to provide shelter, care and love to horses in need. With many decades of cumulative horsekeeping experience, Triple R volunteers have repeatedly been able to stabilize and rehabilitate animals in desperate need of help.
“This event is the heartbeat of our mission,” White said. “It’s a chance for the community to come together, celebrate these incredible animals and make a real difference.”
Tickets are $65 in advance and $75 at the door. Children 10 years old and younger are admitted free. Guests may buy tickets, donate to the silent auction or learn more at triplerhorserescue.org or call 850-491-2559 or 850-933-2704.
