Felon caught flushing drugs

Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) conducted a search warrant on Friday, Feb. 5, at a house located at 2806 Boston Hwy., in Monticello.
Upon entering the residence, Telvin Norton, 30, who is on felony probation, was caught by deputies attempting to flush narcotics down the toilet in an attempt to dispose of the drugs.
JCSO deployed K-9 Pepe who found a large quantity of synthetic cannabinoids and drug paraphernalia. Deputies were also able to seize a firearm and a large quantity of money which led to the arrest of Norton.
Norton was arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, tampering with evidence, possession of synthetic cannabinoids with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of probation.
At the time of press, Norton was still in the Jefferson County Jail with a bond set at $33,500, however, the violation of probation charge is no bond.

A vehicle speeding down Highway 27 was stopped by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Deputy Thomas on Sunday, Feb. 7. According to the arrest report, during the traffic stop, Deputy Thomas found the occupants, driver, Aamarche Flowers, 18, and her passenger, Allaysia Simon, 20, to possibly be under the influence of narcotics. Flowers and Simon are both residents of Perry, Fla.
Corporal Mathews was called to the scene where he deployed K-9 Otis to conduct a search of the vehicle. K-9 Otis alerted to narcotics inside the vehicle and deputies then located a large quantity of synthetic cannabinoids, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and prescription pills.
As a result of the narcotics found, Flowers and Simon were each arrested for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and booked into the Jefferson County Jail.
Flowers was booked with a $15,000 bond and released Monday, Feb. 8. Simon was booked with a $10,000 bond and released Wednesday, Feb. 10.
