Great news - Gadsden Arts is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the Art in Gadsden Juried Exhibition! The 100 featured works of art by 82 different artists will be on display starting Aug. 4 at 10 a.m. Jefferson County residents can see the work of two local artists, painter Laurie Tenace and wood sculptor Walter Wager, in this art show.
Join the Gadsden Arts Center and Museum (GACM) on the evening of Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. for the Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony, open to everyone! The exhibition continues Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. through September 15. During the first two days of the exhibition, Aug. 4-5, we’re also offering an Art in Gadsden art sale to benefit the artists and the museum.
GACM members can also enjoy special Artist’s Studio Tours for featured Art in Gadsden artists on Aug. 12, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Everyone is welcome to join the museum for great programs like this!) Check out our Featured Events page online for more information.
The award-winning works for this year’s Art in Gadsden will be chosen by Katee Tully, a practicing artist and experienced arts professional. She lived in New York City for 12 years and then relocated to
St. Petersburg, Fla., where she helped establish the Chihuly Collection. Tully is also a volunteer with Florida State University Women's Leadership Institute, Gadsden Arts and Quincy Main Street.
It's amazing to think that the Art in Gadsden exhibition has been promoting local artists and bringing fine art to Gadsden County for 35 years. When you visit, be sure to look out for a piece by exhibition founder Beth Appleton that celebrates the 35th year. Families can also bring their children to the ArtZone every Saturday for exhibition-themed art-making and gallery activities, reading and free books from the Reading Corner sponsored by the NHBW-Gadsden, and a free Art @ Home Kit, sponsored by TDS Telecom.
Thank you Art in Gadsden sponsors for making this year’s exhibition possible: Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A., Doug Croley Insurance Services Inc., Iron Oak Wealth Management, Lines Hinson and Lines Law Firm, Full Earth Farm, and Black Fig.
Gadsden Arts is located on the historic Courthouse Square in Quincy, Fla. Admission is free for all children ages 17 and under, families for the ArtZone, and for all GACM members. Exhibition admission is $5 for nonmember adults. For more information, please visit www.gadsdenarts.org.
