Each year, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation awards scholarships to area high school seniors who have overcome significant barriers and have achieved success, both in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. Athletic participation is not a prerequisite for the award.
Over the years, the Foundation has provided over 300 scholarships, with benefits exceeding four million dollars through 2022.
This year, two local recipients were named: Gabe Gamalero, from Aucilla Christian Academy, and Carolann Lancaster, from James Madison Preparatory High School in Madison were among the 13 North Florida scholarship winners.
The scholarship recipients were recognized during the TQC's awards banquet on Saturday, March 11, when they awarded the Biletnikoff Award to the nation's top college football pass receiver. The award is named after former Florida State University receiver and National Football League Hall of Fame member Fred Biletnikoff. This year's banquet took place at Dunlap Champions Club, formerly the University Center Club, at Doak Campbell Stadium, on the Florida State University campus, in Tallahassee. The keynote speaker at this year's banquet was Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Drew Pearson. This year's Biletnikoff Award winner was Jalin Hyatt, from the University of Tennessee.
