On Friday, Sept. 27, the Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Warriors traveled west to Quincy for a contest with one of their biggest rivals, the Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe High School. The Warriors continued their unbeaten streak and chalked up their sixth win of the season with a 21-12 victory over the Bobcats.
The game went scoreless through the first quarter. Then the Warriors scored two unanswered touchdowns to carry a 14-0 lead into halftime. The Bobcats managed to score a touchdown in the third quarter, but the extra-point failed and the score was 14-6 at the end of three quarters. During the final period, both teams traded touchdowns and the Warriors were able to leave town with a 21-12 win.
Brady Browning went six-for-nine through the air for 97 yards. Browning also had 47 yards on-the-ground on 15 carries, with one rushing touchdown. Jared Grant led the Warriors' rushing effort with 60 yards on 19 carries. Brandon Hannon had 31 yards on eight carries and two touchdowns. Defensively, Dalton Anderson had six tackles for the Warriors. Browning registered three tackles and an interception. Hannon had three tackles and one fumble recovery.
Browning was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the Warriors. Anderson was the Defensive Player of the Week. Nathan Dukes was named the Warrior of the Week.
Next, the Warriors will face another familiar foe, the Knights of Rocky Bayou Christian School, from Niceville, Fla. The Knights, 0-5, are coming off a 26-14 loss to St. John Paul II Catholic School, from Tallahassee, Fla. The game will take place at ACA on Friday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. This will be the homecoming game for the Aucilla Warriors.
