If you're still struggling to find that perfect gift for everyone on your holiday shopping list, you're going to want to keep reading! 29-year-old Jessie Beck is a local artist and she has an impressive lineup of unique artwork that would make for ideal options to add to your holiday gift list.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Beck moved to Monticello about three years ago, and has enjoyed living the small town life ever since. Her work features items from various mediums, and as her experience grows, she has shifted from two-dimensional projects to three-dimensional ones.
“I've used multiple different mediums in the past,” says Beck, “and I wanted to try building with a 3D medium. I loved how it turned out and I've continued to practice through the pandemic as a creative outlet.”
Although she also still works with watercolors and crochet art projects, Beck is currently focused on creating small figures and trinkets out of polymer clay. This medium can be difficult to master, but Beck has so far enjoyed the versatility that the clay allows her.
“I can be a bit of a perfectionist with my work,” admits Beck, who says that being so meticulous while working with polymer clay can be a challenge. “I enjoy being able to create unique creatures and creations that I wouldn't be able to with other mediums I've used. I am always trying something new!”
Her collection of polymer art pieces includes dragon eggs, tentacle necklaces, charms, and intricately painted octopus figurines. These pieces come in a wide array of colors and textures, and some feature a moody, metallic shimmer while others are adorned in bright, vibrant hues that easily catch the eye. She also makes adorable polymer clay earrings and paperweights that are not only unique and well made but are fairly priced and come in so many varieties that you're sure to find something for even your hardest-to-please family and friends.
In addition to her polymer figures and trinkets, Beck also has an extensive collection of buttons that she makes herself that feature her very own artwork. These delightful buttons are small enough not to be bulky when fastened to a bag or strap, but are large enough to be eye-catching. Beck has also enjoyed creating original characters in digital medium, and has cards and stationary featuring these characters available for purchase.
While art is certainly a passion of hers, she balances her creative projects with a full time job, and when she isn't at work or working on future art projects, she enjoys playing video games and hiking. Her work can be viewed on Instagram and TikTok at Willowwispforest. This talented artist also has an online Etsy shop with a five-star rating and nearly 100 sales!
