One of the services and programs offered by the United Way of the Big Bend (UWBB) is the Young Leader Society.
The society is a group of young adult professionals, under the age of 40, who are looking for networking, fundraising and volunteer opportunities in their communities.
For the 2020-2021 year, the society’s board is looking for committee members to help support the growth, direction and future of the Young Leader Society.
The board meets on the first Wednesday of the month, and participates in other events throughout the year.
The board includes the chair and chair-elect positions, as well as the:
•Membership and Recruitment Chair, who leads the recruitment efforts for new members, plans yearly recruitment events and creates material for outreach efforts and events.
•Fundraising Chair, who plans fundraising events to support the United Way Campaign and works with other council and committee members to identify businesses to sponsor events.
•Volunteer Engagement Chair, who coordinates quarterly volunteer events and works with Marketing and Membership to recruit volunteers to the UWBB events and programs.
•Marketing Chair, who develops marketing material for recruitment efforts and events and identifies appropriate platforms and methods to use for marketing purposes.
All board members must attend the monthly meetings and actively seek to add new members to the Young Leaders Society.
Those interested in joining the committee are encouraged to participate in a Zoom Interest Happy Hour on Thursday, April 23. The Zoom virtual meeting will be held from 5:15 - 6 p.m.
To learn more about the Young Leaders Society or for information on the Zoom meeting, contact Molly Lord at Molly@uwbb.org.
All committee applications must be received by the Young Leaders Society no later than Friday, May 29.
