Value Adjustment Board agrees with Property Appraiser decision

For the third consecutive year, the Jefferson County Value Adjustment Board (VAB) recently dealt with a petition from a property owner whose applications for a religious exemption the property appraiser denied, making for a long and contentious proceeding on Thursday, Nov. 21. The petitioner, Steve Byers, ran against Property Appraiser Angela Gray in the recent election. He is also the founder of the Hilltop Christian Fellowship (HCF), an organization that owns a 114-acre property off the Ashville Highway that is the focus of the religious exemption being sought.
