Value adjustment board set to hear property owner’s appeal tomorrow

The Jefferson County Value Adjustment Board (VAB) is scheduled to meet this week to consider the appeal of a property owner whose religious exemption the property appraiser’s office denied.
The hearing is set to be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 21, in the courthouse annex at 435 Walnut Street. The petition involves an individual who is claiming a religious exemption on the basis of a church that he operates on his property. The issue is that he owns four separate parcels and he wants the exemption to apply to all four parcels. It will be up to the VAB to decide whether the exemption request is valid.
