The Community Friends of Jefferson County, Inc. has announced plans for its annual 20th of May (Emancipation Day) Celebration, to be held on Wednesday, May 20, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Old Howard Academy, located at 835 Mamie Scott Rd. Note that May 20 is a public school holiday in Jefferson County.
The event will be a community fair with vendors, entertainment, guest speakers, food and more – all designed to “uplift, educate and highlight the rich diversity of our community.”
The Community Friends nonprofit organization invites vendors and groups to participate. To reserve a space, email jeffersoncountyfriends@gmail.com by May 1.
