Thirty-three youth have filled up the waiting list for a new Jefferson County 4-H club focused on shooting sports. Adult volunteers are needed, however, before the club can launch.
Volunteers who work with 4-H are screened and will be registered with UF/IFAS 4-H. For the Shooting Sports Club, volunteers also will receive specialized off-site training to prepare them for working with youth in this particular area of interest.
People who volunteer with 4-H become part of a proven program for youth development that uses a learn-by-doing approach to help youth gain the knowledge and life skills they need to be productive, responsible citizens. 4-H clubs promote independence, mastery of skills, a sense of belonging and generosity.
To find out about becoming a 4-H volunteer with the Shooting Sports Club, contact Extension Director/4-H Agent Dr. Camille Lewis at jefferson@ifas.ufl.edu or call 850-342-0187.
