Due to recent election-law changes, Vote By Mail requests now expire after each general election. In order to vote by mail in the 2024 election, you must submit a new request no later than 5 p.m. ten days before Election Day. If you miss the deadline, you can pick up a Vote-by-Mail ballot at the Supervisor of Elections office. Ballots will be available up to, and including Election Day.
Also, you are permitted to designate someone to pick up your Vote-by-Mail ballot on your behalf. All registered voters are eligible for Vote-by-Mail ballots. Remember, if you move, these ballots will not be forwarded to you automatically, so be sure to update your address before requesting a Vote-by-Mail ballot.
Having a Vote-by-Mail ballot is like having insurance. You can still choose to vote in person. Just dispose of the unused ballot before going to the polling location or surrender it when you arrive. But, should something arise that would prohibit you from voting in person, the Vote-by-Mail ballot will save the day and ensure your voice is heard on Election Day.
