Despite what was on the calendar, Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) spent little time “fooling around” on Thursday, April 1, when they met the Baby Rattlers of Florida A and M University High School on the baseball diamond at ACA. The Warriors' bats were hot as they racked up 10 hits on their way to an 18-3 win over the Baby Rattlers. After giving up three runs in the top of the first inning, the Warriors made some defensive adjustments and put a halt to the Baby Rattlers' scoring. Then, in the bottom of the first inning, the Warriors put up six runs. The Warriors' rout continued with an eight-run second inning while keeping the Baby Rattlers scoreless. The Warriors added four more runs in the bottom of the third inning before the game was called midway through the fourth inning. Tucker Rudd went one-for-two at the plate, with one RBI. Tyler Slaughter had two hits in two at bats for two RBIs. Brady Browning had a big game, going three-for-three at the plate with four RBIs. Jared Grant had one hit in three trips to the batter's box, including an inside the park homer, with one RBI. Dakota Hagan had one hit in three at-bats, with one RBI. Gabe Gamalero went one-for-one, with one RBI. Hunter Hughes had one hit in two plate appearances, with two RBIs. Tripp Joyner was also credited with two RBIs. Joyner, Slaughter and Gmalero teamed up on the pitcher's mound for the Warriors, giving up just one hit and three earned runs. The three Warrior pitchers walked 10 and struck out four. The Warriors are scheduled to be at home again on Friday, April 16, to take on arch rival Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe High School, from Quincy, Fla. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
