The Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) took advantage of a 201-yard rushing performance by junior Jace Grant to improve their record to 4-1, defeating the Seahawks of Franklin County High School on the road in Eastpoint.
The Warriors scored first and held a 6-0 lead at the end of the opening period. The Seahawks were able to respond during the second period, scoring six points, but the Warriors doubled up on the Seahawks scoring 12 points of their own to carry an 18-6 lead into halftime. The Warriors added seven more points in the third period for good measure, while holding the Seahawks scoreless for the remainder of the contest.
Grant led the Warriors' rushing attack with 201 yards on 19 carries, including two touchdowns on the ground. Senior Dakota Hagan toted the ball six times for a total of 37 yards and one touchdown. Warrior quarterback Tripp Joyner went nine-for-16 passing for 126 yards with one touchdown pass and two interceptions.
Aiden Day was named the Offensive Player of the Week for the Warriors. Grant was the Defensive Player of the Week. The “Warrior” of the Week was Aiden Gray.
The Warriors will return home for their annual Homecoming game on Friday, Oct 8, when the Warriors will face an old rival, the Knights of Rocky Bayou Christian School, from Niceville, Fla. The Knights have a record of 3-2 and are coming off a bye week. In their most recent contest, on Friday, Sept. 24, the Knights defeated Franklin County, 35-7. Kickoff for the Warriors' Homecoming game is set for 7 p.m., at ACA.
