The Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) Warriors took advantage of three pass interceptions and 357 rushing yards to defeat the Wolves of St. Francis Catholic School, 33-14, in Gainesville, Fla. on Friday, Sept. 6. The road victory has given the Warriors a 3-0 record so far this season.
The game was scoreless after the first quarter, but the Warriors scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead into halftime. The Wolves were able to outscore the Warriors 7-6 in the third period, but the Warriors tacked on 13 more points in the final quarter to put away the Wolves with a 33-14 final score.
Jared Grant led the Warriors in rushing with 217 yards on 32 carries and three touchdowns. Brady Browning ran for 111 yards on nine carries. Tag Williams added 30 yards on the ground with seven carries, accounting for one rushing touchdown. Williams also went three-for-nine passing for 47 yards. Defensively, Austin Hebert had 15 tackles for the Warriors. Tripp Joiner had two interceptions.
Grant was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Browning was named the Defensive Player of the Week. Co-Warriors of the Week were Hebert and Dalton Anderson.
Next up for the Warriors will be another road trip to play the Georgia Christian School Generals, in Valdosta, Ga. The Generals have a record of 0-3 and are coming off a 26-19 loss to Sherwood Christian Academy, from Albany, Ga. The game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Georgia Christian School, located at 4359 Dasher Rd., in Valdosta, Ga.
