It was a special afternoon on Friday, April 16, when the Warriors of Aucilla Christian Academy (ACA) honored six senior members of the varsity baseball team. As if honoring the seniors on the squad were not enough incentive, the Warriors were facing one of their biggest rivals, the Bobcats of Robert F. Munroe High School, from Quincy, Fla. The Warriors had to come from behind, but still managed to pull off a 6-3 victory over the Bobcats.
After two scoreless innings, the Bobcats went out to a 3-1 lead in the third inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Warriors rallied and scored four unanswered runs. In the bottom of the sixth inning the Warriors added an insurance run, just for good measure. The Warriors held the Bobcats scoreless in the top half of the seventh inning to seal the deal.
Tucker Rudd went two-for-three at the plate, with one RBI. Fellow senior Hunter Hughes had the hot bat for the Warriors, going three-for-three, with a pair of RBIs. Tripp Joiner also registered a couple of base hits.
Brady Browning went the distance on the mound for the Warriors, yielding just two hits, two earned runs and one walk. Browning struck out 17 batters.
