The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has released two traffic advisories that will effect Jefferson County drivers within the next few days.
The first change will begin during the evening of Monday, January 14 and last until the morning of Tuesday, January 15. Lane shifts are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. on January 14 on State Road 20 (U.S. 27), which will extend from the Leon County line to Chittling Street (in Waukeenah). Crews will be performing tests on the road's asphalt. The lane shifts will end at 6 a.m. on January 15.
The second advisory will take place on State Road 55 (U.S. 221). Lane shifts will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15 and will last until 5 p.m., same day. Crews from the FDOT will be testing the asphalt during those hours. The lane shift will extend from the Madison County line, into Jefferson County, and all the way to the Florida/Georgia state line.
Drivers should expect possible delays but are not being encouraged to seek an alternative route.
All planned activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.
Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction areas, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway.
Be sure to always use caution when driving through a work zone.
Speeding fines will be doubled when workers are present.
