Water Street upgrade should begin soon

The long-awaited resurfacing of Water Street should soon be getting underway.
On Tuesday, June 11, the Monticello City Council approved a resolution acknowledging the receipt of increased funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the repaving of the street, which runs from U.S. 90 on the north to U.S. 19 on the southeast.
The additional funding amounted to $102,421, bringing the total awarded for the project to $334,598, up from the $232,176 that was initially awarded to the city.
