With watermelon festivities well under-way, here's what you can look forward to this week as the Watermelon Festival finishes with a flourish.
* Tomorrow, June 16, the Monticello Women's Club will be hosting a Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Historical Monticello Opera House at 11 a.m. Tickets to the Fashion Show and the Luncheon are completely sold out and will not be available for purchase at the door.
The fashion show will begin as usual with a brief background and introduction of each of the local shop owners featured in the show. Once introductions are complete, each business will send out their beautiful models to walk the stage and showcase the best of the best fashion trends of the season, all available for purchase in their shops here in Monticello.
Models will walk the floor, allowing attendees of the luncheon to get a good look at their ensembles, showing off the latest shoes, blouses, dresses, pants and jewelry from local boutiques. Attendees of the luncheon will be encouraged to touch the fabrics, take photos and get a good look at the beautiful items available at each local shop.
* The final stretch of the festival will continue Friday, June 17, with the start of the Watermelon Festival itself! This two-day long festival begins at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon with a Vendor Village. Come out and shop ‘till you drop, and enjoy a huge variety of artists, craftsman, visiting merchants, talent, food trucks, entertainment and more! The Vendor Village will be open on Friday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will reopen bright and early on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. sharp! (Father's Day is Sunday, June 19, so be sure to pick out a fantastic gift for Dad!)
* This year's Kid Show will be held at the Monticello Opera House. This year's show is called Zombies, The Musical, and features an excellent anti-bullying message for kids and grow-ups alike! Come join in the fun and enjoy another wonderful MadCo Production performed by our talented youth! Ticket Prices for adults are $12, tickets for students aged 13 and up are $10, and tickets for children 12 and under are $5. Tickets can be bought on the Monticello Opera House website.
While the Vendor Village is underway, be sure to stop by some of the many other attractions that will be present at the festival!
