Will Monticello have problems with its lead piping?

The “storm on the horizon” that Monticello City Manager Seth Lawless warned about a little more than a year ago regarding the lead piping in the city’s water system is looming nearer.
“It’s a huge issue,” Lawless said last October, speaking of an inventory that the city was having to conduct to identify all copper and lead piping in the drinking water system, part of a national mandate. Should the city be required to remove and replace all its lead piping as a result of the inventory, it would entail a huge and costly undertaking, Lawless said.
