William T. Thigpen, Jr., age 86, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, in Tallahassee, Fla. He was born in Monticello, Fla on Jan. 28, 1934 to William T. Thigpen Sr. & Gertrude Wood Thigpen. He was a lifelong resident of Monticello and attended Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Willie loved gardening and working with the land, he enjoyed being with his family, hunting, fishing, reading and crossword puzzles. He was a veteran, he served with the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion Post 49.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Geraldine Sullivan Thigpen of Monticello, Fla.; his daughter; Barbara Sue Thigpen, of Havana, Fla.; his sons, Bill Thigpen (Brandi), of Aucilla, Fla., Bobby Thigpen (Keri), of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jody McDonald (Tammy), of Lamont, Fla., Leonard Thigpen (Dawn), of Woodstock, Ga. and Scott Thigpen, of Tallahassee, Fla.; his 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his son Jeff “Tiny” McDonald.
A Graveside Funeral Service was held on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, Fla. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 446 Hatchett Rd. Lamont, Fla. 32336. Arrangements were handled by Beggs Funeral Homes Inc., Monticello, Fla.
