Willie “Bo” Lee Bellamy was born on May 12, 1941 in the Turkey Scratch Community of Monticello, Fla. His parents were Amon, Sr. and Mary Etta Loggins Bellamy. He was the sixth of nine children born to Amon and Mary Etta.
Growing up in a very large and loving family, Bo learned the value of an honest day’s work. He attended the public schools of Jefferson County. He grew up attending Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church in Turkey Scratch. Bo worked for Boland Timber Company or several years until he sustained a traumatic injury in 1994 which ended his career. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
On Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at 9 o’clock ante-meridiem, Bo gained his wings and left this world behind. He leaves to cherish his memory: one sister, Theola Scott and one brother, Ernest Bellamy both of Monticello, Fla.; his special nephews: George Young, Darrell Young and Devard Bellamy; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bo was preceded in death by his parents: Amon, Sr. and Mary Etta Bellamy; and six of his siblings: Loretha, Joe, Jimmy Lee, Amon, Jr., Classie and Linsey.
Viewing and Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021 at Salem African Methodist Episcopal Church (South Salt Road, Lamont, Fla.). Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at Turkey Scratch Cemetery (South Salt Road). GRACE Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. are handling the arrangements.
