May 19, 1928 – March 17, 2020
Willie Gus Boland Chancy, 91, of Wacissa, Fla., moved to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, from the Margaret Dozier House at Big Bend Hospice.
Born on May 19, 1928, she was a lifelong resident of Wacissa and member of the Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church. She loved serving her church as a board member, Sunday school teacher, and faithful participant in Women’s Ministry. She loved “the Lord Jesus Christ” and today her great faith is confirmed.
She graduated from Jefferson County High School in 1945. Married T. H. “Buck” Chancy in 1947 and began her life as his wife of 43 years.
She was a loving mother and homemaker, retiring from the State of Florida Comptroller’s Office after 35 years in 1993. She was proud of being a state employee and enjoyed her time of service there.
She loved to cook for her family and prepare meals on Sunday after church. She looked forward to all “the children” being home for Christmas and the reading of the Christmas Story before lunch on Christmas Day. Many around the community were the grateful recipients of her famous blonde brownies. She was an avid crossword puzzler, camellia grower, family historian and a proud Seminole.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Pinkney and Ethel Boland; husband, T. H. Chancy, Sr.; and sisters: Edna Brittle and Hilda Cannon.
She is survived by her children: Pamela C. Fendrick (Tony), Thomas (Bobo) Chancy, Jr. (Kim) and Pinki C. Jackel; grandchildren: Pamela Fluor (Jack), Anton Fendrick (Staci), Erin Deadwyler (Dallas), Shelley Chancy, Thomas H. (Ty) Chancy, III, William Jackel, Sr., Nick Flynt (Alison) and Ryan Flynt (Magdalene); great-grandchildren: Presley Fluor, Lilli and Maci Fendrick (twins), Emi Rose Fendrick, Chancy Deadwyler, Anna Deadwyler, Delaney Deadwyler, Dallas Deadwyler, William “Buck” Jackel, II, Aubrey Imhoff, Nicholas Flynt, Caroline Flynt, Julie Flynt, Jacob Flynt and Ayla Flynt; siblings: Madge McLeod, Joy Howard and Charles Boland; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she loved.
A celebration of her life was held at the Wacissa Pentecostal Holiness Church (152 Tram Rd, in Wacissa) on Saturday, March 21, at 11 a.m. with interment at Beth Page Cemetery immediately following.
Contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice (1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, Fla. 32308) in her memory.
