A vehicle/pedestrian collision on Friday, November 23 resulted in the death of 37-year-old Heather Pappas, of Jefferson County.
The accident took place on Old Lloyd Road when a vehicle operated by Susan Haase, 64, of Monticello, struck Pappas.
According to a report issued by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Haase was traveling westbound on Old Lloyd Road, and Pappas was walking in the roadway in the eastbound lane.
For unknown reasons, Pappas stepped out into the westbound lane and into the direction of travel for Haase’s Toyota Tacoma.
The left, front end of the vehicle struck Pappas as the two collided.
The accident took place at around 6:25 p.m., and FHP Troopers were dispatched to the collision at around 6:30 p.m.; FHP was assisted on scene by the Jefferson County EMS and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Pappas was pronounced dead on scene, but was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Both lanes of travel were temporarily closed as law enforcement handled the scene on Friday night.
