Throughout the year, the Monticello Woman's Club supports the Jefferson County community through fundraising for local non-profits, supporting organizations that give-back to local citizens, promoting youth literacy and funding special projects.
While all these projects help the Jefferson County community be a wonderful place to live, work and play, it means that the club operates with a slim financial budget.
In recent years, the Woman's Clubhouse, a historical structure that is used for the club's monthly meetings and various social functions, has been in need of repairs. The clubhouse is used by the Woman's Club, but is also a community gathering place for family reunions, weddings, parties, meetings and other events.
In order to facilitate these repairs, the Woman's Club will be holding a Country Dinner fundraiser, and selling plates of delicious country meals for their cause.
This Country Dinner will be held on Thursday, March 19, at the clubhouse which is located at 975 E. Pearl St.
Those who plan to participate will enjoy a meal of shredded BBQ pork on a bun, as well as potato chips, baked beans, coleslaw, pickles, lettuce, tomatoes and homemade brownies.
The dinner will last from 5-7 p.m., and meal plates will be sold by club members for $8 for adults and $5 for children.
This meal is a perfect chance to support a local group and a gathering place for the community; with the community's help, the Woman's Club will be able to repair the clubhouse and continue to allow the community to use it for memory-making, functions and gatherings.
