A special thanks goes to Pastor Daryl Adams for his words of protection over this year's Aucilla Christian Academy's (ACA) JV and Varsity football players and cheerleaders. On Aug. 29, approximately 125 people showed up to Central Baptist Church and gathered under their giant oak tree and listened as Pastor Adams preached about “standing in the gap.”
Pastor Adams had all the student-athletes come to the front of the congregation and asked for family and guests to come and lay hands on these students and help with the blessing of a safe year and season for all. After the prayer ended, Adams read from the books of Joshua and Ezekiel, preaching about the phrase “standing in the gap.” In Ezekiel 22:30, the Lord says, “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”
Adams explained how even the teams and coaches could do the same while playing football with these wise words and teachings. He referenced the late Bobby Bowden and how he preached “standing in the gap” to his players and everyone he met. Bowden gave all of his success to the Lord and was very thankful for all of the blessings bestowed upon him.
Once the service concluded, they had a wonderful dinner where each member helped by contributing food and beverages. The congregation typically holds this dinner after service every 5th Sunday.
