For those who loved the suspense and intriguing charm of Abigail Edwards' first book, And We All Bled Oil, break out your bookmarks, because Edwards has officially published another compelling read, titled The Time Walker, and you won't want to miss your chance to tap into this engrossing fictional adventure.
Follow the antics and intentions of Greyfoot and his young friend Ally as they flee their way across time itself, consorting with pirates and dodging peril as they embark on a haphazard rescue mission in an attempt to save his long-lost mother. To do so will take them through numerous and unexpected dangers, including haunted graveyards, black markets, infamous ships and more.
This novel is currently a stand alone book that is unaffiliated with Edwards' first book, and despite it being her second publication, Edwards reveals that the story has been in the works for around 10 years!
“I started this as a short story for my sister's birthday,” Edwards mentioned at a recent book-signing event. More details about the lengthy process of perfecting the manuscript can be read in the Author's Note of her book, which reads, “During my first year at university, I fell out of the habit of writing. Overrun by STEM coursework, a grueling early-morning schedule, and a general lack of energy, I traded reading and writing for Khan Academy and over-caffeination. The Time Walker was the story that brought me home again.”
Over the last 10 years, the manuscript for The Time Walker has seen many variations, as elements of the story were altered, tweaked and sometimes re-written completely. The result is the curious and captivating adventure novel that is certain to transfix her readers.
Many loyal readers of Edwards' work may be wondering about a sequel to her first book, to which query the young author smiles knowingly and reveals “tentative” plans for “possible” sequels, down the road.
“It's terrifying to think people will be waiting for a sequel to something I've written,” she admits, “ Typically, I don't start a sequel until I'm in the right mindset.”
While eager fans may still have to wait out sequels, there is much to enjoy in the meantime, and with over 500 pages of pirates, troublemakers, rescue missions and time travel, The Time Traveler is a great tale to get immersed in while awaiting future stories.
