The Jefferson County 2nd Annual Youth Athletic Camp is set to return on Saturday, July 18, with the aim to inspire the next generation through athletics, wellness, leadership and community safety.
The Jefferson County community is invited to attend the camp at Tiger Stadium in Monticello. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with camp activities running from 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Hosted by Coach Kelvin “Coach Kel” Frazier, owner of Kingz And Queenz Fitness and President of the Tallahassee Trainers Foundation, alongside Shaundala Brown, founder of Banking on the Culture, and Lamar Hughes, owner of Big Time Transpo, the free event is designed to empower youth ages 6–17 through athletics, mentorship, health education, leadership development and community engagement.
The Jefferson County Youth Athletic Camp brings together former professional athletes, coaches, certified fitness professionals, educators, business leaders, healthcare advocates and community organizations to create an unforgettable experience that extends far beyond sports.
Participants will rotate through interactive athletic stations focused on speed, agility, strength and conditioning, teamwork, and sport-specific skills while also receiving valuable education on healthy lifestyles, nutrition, mental wellness, leadership and goal setting.
A special emphasis this year will be placed on community safety awareness through partnerships with local law enforcement and public safety agencies. Officers and community safety professionals will engage directly with youth and families by providing education on personal safety, conflict resolution, positive decision-making, emergency preparedness and building stronger relationships between young people and those who serve the community.
“Our vision is much bigger than one day of sports,” said Coach Frazier. “We want every young person to leave inspired, encouraged, healthier and believing they can accomplish anything. This camp is about investing in our youth and building stronger communities.”
Brown added, “When businesses, nonprofits, educators, law enforcement and community leaders unite around our youth, we create opportunities that can change lives for generations.”
Hughes emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating, “This camp is about showing our youth that an entire community believes in them. Together we can provide positive experiences, mentorship, and hope for their future.”
The camp is made possible through generous sponsors, donors, volunteers and community partners who believe in creating opportunities for Jefferson County’s youth. Sponsorships and donations directly support camp shirts, athletic equipment, meals, hydration, educational materials, giveaways, and safety programming.
Community members, businesses, churches, civic organizations and volunteers are encouraged to get involved and help make this year’s event another tremendous success.
Businesses and organizations interested in sponsoring or volunteering are encouraged to participate. Every contribution helps provide a safe, impactful and memorable experience for local youth.
